Over the summer holidays ahead of our start at Brookes we we’re asked to design an open and closed sign that reflects our personality, inspired by the re-opening of shops and businesses in COVID times. It also need to have a strong link to the phenomena of hand-written commercial signage.

I really enjoyed this first brief and got fully involved in the process of designing.
First I thought how I could subtly nod to my personality without inserting my own bias against myself, and I ended up basing my initial idea around colour theory and my own experience with synesthesia.

So I looked at colours that I think resonate with my personality, with the help of others opinions of what colours they associate with me. Through doing this I came up with a colour palette unique to me (purple, pink, red, black, orange, dark blue and turquoise).
